It's been a good while since I have posted anything, and thought, "What better time to blog than after the new year!"
At this point, 2007 has been swept under the rug and 2008 has been ushered in with the usual craziness.
I got to enjoy a week in Cali, visiting my older brother and just being lazy. He wanted me out since it has been about 9 years since I was last out, so he bought my ticket. He also got tickets to the 49ers vs Bucs game at Candlestick. I flew into San Fran and went straight from the airport to Candlestick (Monster) Park.
This was the first time I ever got to see my 9ers play in person, against one of my other teams, and they won!!! It was also one of my fave player's (Bryant Young) last home game, as he is retiring after this season. The stadium was pretty cool, although the parking and such sort of sucked. Thankfully we found an open spot right up near the stadium. They also have some killer beer that I will be on a mission to find here in FL... Gordon Biersch Brewing Co. "Marzen" (pronounced mart-zen). The GBBC also had a stand at the stadium and had this KILLER garlic fries! I can tell you, I had no fear of vampires getting a hold of me that night! lol... outside of that, the only thing I really did was go to Hooters to see the UFC fights. And I don't understand why people always have to try and be a badass when the UFC is on... there ended up being a big brawl that broke out at Hooters. So me, being me, I go rushing out, and grab the manager and let him know I've got him and for him not to worry. So I'm basically just shoving people away from the front door of the restaurant so that no one who didnt have a seat gets hit. Well, leave it to my big brother to come out and watch my ass as he always does, even after I snapped at him to get back inside. He ended up getting punched by a chick (who happened to be the reason this whole thing started). Oh well, at least I made a few new friends at Hooters... which, those who know me know I seem to do pretty well.
I flew back home Monday morning (the 31st) so that I could work security at an event here for NYE. My flight was kind of shitty (thanks Frontier Air!). My flight from Sacramento to Denver was delayed by like an hour. But was assured that I would not have a problem with my connecting flight because it was also delayed. Well, luckily for me, there were 3 other people traveling to Tampa and one of them decided to run to the gate. Denver is a HUGE fucking airport. We came in on gate A50, and had to get to gate A28. Holy shit. Anyhow, we got there and they had already closed the gate up and the plane was already closed up as well. They had given our seats away. And me, I KNOW I'm a big fuck, so I try to be as nice as I can and not overcrowd people. So I always ask for an aisle seat so I can kinda lean out into the aisle. But I am usually pretty lucky and at least have an open middle seat between me or have another open row on the flight that I can move to. Well, of course that wouldnt be the case. The flight was slammed solid. So I was uncomfortable for almost 3 hours from Denver to Tampa. Ugh.
I think that there is a very good possibility of me moving out to Sacramento once I finish school and have my degree. I just am not fond of how dense even the 'burbs are in population and how crazy the traffic is. I will definitely have to get a car with a few more horsies under the hood. But I guess that all really depends on where the money comes from. I'm open to moving anywhere. And I've gotten some flack from friends for that, but I gotta do whats best for me eventually. Sure, I will DEFINITELY miss my boys and my HOME. Tampa is all I really know. And I will miss the nightlife. But I gotta grow up at some point, right?
Anyhow, I got home eventually and got some sleep. I got to the event and it was pretty nicely set up (Way to go Johnny Peace, Regis, and Enrique!) It was a good night with lots of good lookin people. Unfortunately, Stevie B (the recording artist) seems to bring out the worst in people... lol. This is the 2nd concert he's done here where theres been a major fight. We handled it pretty good and got it taken care of pretty quickly, at least. Unfortunately, anytime a fight like that breaks out, it kills the crowd. So the event closed up maybe 30 mins earlier than it was supposed to. Which we (security) didnt mind so much since it allowed us to go out and celebrate New Year's at Floyd's! And what a celebration it was! It's always good to have great friends surrounding you on New Year's Eve!
I do not know what 2008 holds for me, or anyone else. I do know that 2007 had its ups and downs and there is a part of me that is sad to see it go, but there is a bigger part of me that is glad that I've made it through another year. I don't really believe in making resolutions, but I did try to promise myself that I will finally get over my ex gf since it's been 3 years now and that I would stop annoying her with drunken texts.
I am also glad that I have made it into my sophomore year of school and look forward to getting through this year and getting into the meat of my degree program. I hope that this year brings many new opportunities to grow financially, occupationally, and personally. And I wish this to be the same for all of my friends.
Will this be the year I find a great woman? Probably not, but you never know. Will it be the year I win the lottery? HA! Yehrite. But I suppose there is that small lightning-strike of a chance, right?
In any case, I just wish the best for myself, my family, and my friends.
