whoa... civilisation, it's really something else - give me an outback pub, a lazy sunset, red dust and simplicity any day!
nearly freaked out in this shopping centre today, everyone's running around maniacally consuming, sizing up bathroom cabinets with small paper tape measures, pushing well laden toddler filled strollers...
talk about a change of pace, i'm used to pitching a tent by dusk, freezing mornings (up before the sun), hot steamy almost unbearable days and playing cards by campfire with crazy, lovely travelers.
the desert - in fact nature - is beautiful and awe inspiring, it strikes the words right from your throat, leaves only the ephemeral, passes like light, and speaks soundly of solitude and silence...
and before anyone asks, no i did not climb uluru (ayers rock), the well trod path carved by the myriads of tourists seeking to accomplish and conquer was visible from miles away ... i wanted to respect the aboriginal anangu culture and try to understand the spirituality and meaning of the land - the tjukurpa - an ancient law that explains how the land came to be...
*winks* & thanks for the welcome backs and kind words!
love the new pic seeon, keep them coming!
no diving for me in the desert dougal, red sea is next on my hit list.
and doesnt everyone think inkedgirl is v. beautiful??
xdainellex, no cacti just gum trees (it is the aus desert after all, and it was pretty anyway)
namaiki i agree completely! i love the landscape, its so isolated and unique
ayers rock sure looks strange from far away takora, yet it has such idiosyncrasy up close.
dilaudid: cheers! (or stahl in norwegian!) thanks
and i appreciate the advice vena, i may soon go for a labret.
grendel! dont make me choose between jarmusch films! ok, down by law.

Your idea of a perfect day sounds fantastic. We're going rafting at the end of August for that very thing. I can't wait!
