Saw Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis with my brother last night, the very first time I've caught anime on screen...
And it was incredible! It follows the story of Fritz Lang's sient classic, yet is based on a 1940's manga by Tezuka. Filled with Blade Runner eqsue city scapes, it questions whether robots can love, and what role (if any) machines have.
It was so poignant - the first time I've been to the cinema with my brother since we were small children... I was reminded of running home as a little girl so that I could watch astro boy with him. It's funny how associations can sit on your lap so unexpecrtedly.
