You know I always liked that phrase, "And this too shall pass." Not terribly big on biblical quotes generally, I'm a big fan of Bill Maher if that says anything to you. But I have always liked and appreciated this one. A phrase that applies to both good times and bad, that is both hopeful and sad, both prosaic and wise. Perhaps its dichotomy is what I love.
But whatever the case I found myself mumbling it quietly everytime something great or horrible happens to me. Been alot of both here lately.
Studying for the CFA exam, which is still a long way off but stresses me out. In my final semester a school, and have a huge project to do in order to graduate, 200+ page paper where I have to provide and analytical financial analysis of two competing companies in the SW Florida area. Good thing is I'm working with five great people, and finding a good group is half the battle.
Then my fish died, 12 out 18. I set up an aquarium when I moved into the new house. Been up and running and going strong for a couple weeks so I spent the weekend with friends. Came back and the pH had tanked, 10 were dead when I got home and two more died before I could stabilize the pH.
I know it shouldn;t upset me much, I mean its fish not my sister or anything. But it does. Mostly because they have no defense. I feed them, I clean the tank, I give them light and shelter. Theres no predators, no prey, its an artificial environment that I control, and hence its my responsibility. They died because I wasn't there, and it disturbs me. Silly maybe, but true none the less.
Anycase, hope all everyone else is doing well.

So yes, it makes sense, and is in fact a good reaction. One who can truly appreciate and cherish the relationship between human and non-human living things shows he has the capability of seeing love, loyalty, beauty and compassion in life.
