Another Heart Decays
This is a poem I wrote a little while back that I really like, so I thought I would share it with you guys! I want to turn it into a song eventually, but so far everyone thinks it would be better to just leave it as a poem, so I dunno, we'll see. Well let me know what you think (constructive criticism please. If you don't like it that's fine, but don't just be like "it sucks!"). I hope you like it
Another Heart Decays
Walls fortified with hatred now crumble to the ground,
Another heart decays,
A man falls to his knees without a sound,
Another dream breaks,
Society's warmth turns to a bitter frost,
Another city destroyed,
A war that needs to be won at all costs,
Another soldier deployed,
Hundreds of men commanded by just one,
Will execute whole families without mercy,
By their hands a thousand lives will be expuged,
Yet not a single soul will feel guilty,
But one man steps out of place to see things through his own eyes,
He hears their helpless cries,
He sees the river of blood that will never run dry,
(chorus)
When will we start listening to reason,
Ignoring the fact that what's right may be a treason,
When will we learn to rescue the innocent,
And stop obeying the orders of the wicked,
We can't stand by and watch as the world is erased,
We can't stand by and let another heart decay,
A father is now brought onto his knees,
Before his wife's and children's tear-stained eyes,
He cries in pain but no one answers his pleas,
The strike of the blade brings upon his demise,
His wishes for a better life have been wrecklessly shattered,
The fragments have been hopelessly scattered,
The memories are tattered,
Another dream breaks,
(chorus)
A society crumbles under the weight of injustice,
Death and decay corrupt the once peaceful streets,
The burning buildings will never be extinguished,
The dying souls await inevitable defeat,
Women and children fall victim to the raging flames,
Finally reaching an end to this one-sided game,
An end to their helpless cries in vain,
Another city destroyed,
(chorus)
An outcast prepares for what could be his final mission,
A mission to raise justice's free flying flag,
As he anxiously waits he questions his decision,
One that could send him back in a body bag,
But he realizes that justice is worth fighting for,
Even if it means he'll be knocking on heaven's door,
And if he falls he'll be replaced by more,
Another soldier deployed,
(chorus)
We can't stand by and let their dreams go to waste.
Please tell me what you think and thank you so much for reading!
