Time for another movie review. Today we will be looking at the new 007 flick "Quantum of Solace"
We will begin with a basic 101: This movie is a direct sequel to "Casino Royale" (released 2 years ago). Quantum is directed by German director Marc Forster (his previous works included "Finding Neverland" & the "Kite Runner", its a pretty odd combination, not sure what else he made). The title "Quantum of Solace" is part of the 1960 short story collection book of James Bond titled "For your eyes only" & the short story Quantum has NOTHING to do with the movie. The short story is basically a dinner, thats it. I own all of the Bond books when Penguin published them all years ago. Good luck obtaining the original books. So anyway, think of this flick as a bad Jason Bourne movie. The action in Quantum is pretty good but the whole Parkur chase scenes r getting exhausted. These movies must feel like they MUST throw in a long run-chase scene. The movie starts off with a car chase scene, pretty neat to watch but it basically goes downhill from there. QUANTUM is basically a terrorist organization that is stationed everywhere. For example, lets say you work in the White House, there is at least one person that is a member of the QUANTUM organization which I find interesting, but thats where it ends. The movie doesn't really bother to explore them. The main villain in the movie, I can't look at his face, it annoys me haha. He is so not interesting. The Bond girl played by Ukrainian actress & model Olga Kurylenko, the movie could have done without her. The director failed to capture her as a Bond girl. The plot was just way too Goddamn confusing. I didn't who was who or what was what, I was like "slow down" then at the end, I said to myself "I guess Bond solved the problem" haha. It just ended, that was it.
The problem with movies today is everyone is looking for the sequel to out-do the prequel. This is very hard to come by & "The Dark Knight" is just one of those rare movies where it was actually better than "Batman Begins" although "Batman Begins" is an amazing movie.
When I first saw "Casino Royale" I said to myself "ok, we have a new Bond with new ppl in it & a fresh start" kind of like "Batman Begins" & I was looking forward to seeing how it will all end up. Quantum just didn't please me. If anyone is curious, I recommend you renting it (if Blockbuster video still exists haha). or join the 21st Century & do what I do instead of renting movies.....Download it & piss off the movie studios.
So there you have it!!!
