Oooooh. It's proper blog time!
So, 2 weeks ago I got a call from a special effects guy I worked with out in Italy last year, asking if I would like to be buyer/co-ordinator on his next film. I jumped at the chance to work on a film again with him and his crew and said yes. So on September 10th I fly out to Morocco for 3 1/2 months! I'll be working on a film called Body of Lies, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe and Leonardo diCaprio. Something about a journalist going into Al Qaeda to get a story or something...I brought the script home this weekend, so if I can be bothered I'll give it a quick read and let you know.
I'll be mostly based in the office so wont get to see much on set stuff, but that's ok, I know what happens on set, and sometimes.....it's just plain boring! There seems to be quite a lot of physical effects in this film though so the guys will be pretty busy most of the time.
It's a really good opportunity to get in with his crew, and he's already mentioned working on the next one he has lined up. I've gotta brush up on my Excel skills to make sure the budget is all going to plan. I'll be working alongside the Moroccan buyer, so I think I'll be mostly co-ordinating and making sure things are running ok.
This weekend my Granddad is down for the night, so I'll be going to see him later at Mum's. Then I might go to a party, but I'll see how I feel; I'm pretty tired and might just sit and read, or do some of the budget stuff that needs doing. The boss is off to Washington on Monday and then him and some of the crew are going out to start prepping in Morocco, so the budget will go from being projected to a working one. Which means everything we've spent has to be put into it so he knows what's left.
Tomorrow I have to sort all my finances out, too. I'm staying at a friend's house for the week to save me driving 2 hours for work each way every day, and they have a carpet so I can spread everything out and sort it. I only have wood effect flooring which sucks.
That's all for now I think. I'm gonna scoot along to chat and see who's about.
