well you think that NOW, but imagine not having a car. Just ... trust me on this, take a minute or two ... and REALLY THINK abt what u would do without your car. How would u get to work? What would u do abt visiting friends/gf? Going out?
I would have to live closer to work, and I would have to take public transportation or walk- which would be GOOD for me. All these people locked up in their own private isolated metal cages on wheels, it's no wonder everyone feels lonely. I don't have to visit my friends because I don't have any. And my gf lives with me. I don't go out anymore because I'm a fucking old man.
I'm thinking about when I was in high school. Everyone wanted their driver's licenses so bad they just couldn't wait. I was like, nah, I don't want the complication. I liked driving around in my friend's car (it's name was Turtle, may it rust in peace), back when I had friends. In some ways, I think having to walk with people, having to take the bus, having to stay after school, made me more friends than having a fucking car. I met more people, and most of my best friends, because I stayed after school to wait for my mom to pick me up on her way home from work. I got into theater that way. If I'd had a car, I would've been one of those assholes who drives from one end of the parking lot to the other.
If I ever have another nervous breakdown, my tv is first to go and my car is second.
yeah ... thought so. Its totally worth it ...
