this christmas shopping stuff is rubbish. what a waste of time. i will not sit in my car, waiting as a light goes from green to red and back again a half dozen times, just so that i can get through the intersection and wait in more traffic. not even with good music on the stereo. all of this, just to spend five minutes in a store looking for one specific thing. and *if* they have it, waiting in yet another line to pay for it. just for something to put in her stocking. no, no i don't think so.
and what's the point of giving gifts, anyway? every year it's the same thing. no one i know knows what to get any one else, so they ask what they want. there's no chance of surprise- we're going to get what we asked for. yippie. there's no fun in that. there's no excitement.
it's all a lot of fuss. surely there are better ways to be nice to people for a day. maybe sharing a cup of hot chocolate and a conversation about the summer. or a snowball fight. or building a snowman. all of the traditions of christmas have been replaced by Target, and GAP, and Sears.
