To start the new year, my friend, Darr, and I drove up the coast to San Francisco and had a great time there. If anyone wants to hear about a truly exceptional dining experience, let me know and I'll tell you about "Jardiniere." Unbelievable dinner, drinks and desserts. On the way back, we screwed around on the Santa Cruz boardwalk for far too long, then wound up at eating at this shitty seafood restaurant, I think it was called "Gilbert's." Our plates were something like $30 each, but the quality was less than "Sizzler." Overcooked fish and these stuffed mushroom caps that were 1/2 melted butter... ew. I think that's a picture of me scarfing down dinner rolls after realizing that they'd be the best part of the meal that I could shove into myself before the remaining long haul back to LA. Anyone know any good restaurants in Santa Cruz? Cuz I'd love to go back there. My friend loves surfing, and I love hippies.
