In Early February of this momentous year, 2006, DJ Larke and I spoke about starting up this venture into web-radio, one last bastion for me to get my foot into the door in the business I truly love, and I'm ecstatic to be writing this bio up, so stay tuned everyone, because this is just the beginning, and this is going to be something truly special.
Anyway, we've got a great list of jocks, and having heard some of their shows, I have to highly recommend that you take a listen to the Average Joe Show with Joe Schmoe and DJ Druid's Dead Air Show, but naturally, whether you're at work, at home, or on the road, keep it locked into to Radio For The Win (www.radioftw.com), we won't disappoint.
As written by Nik Carter from K-Rock in New York (now known on-air as "92.3 Free FM"): "Punk rock Mike", Philosopher, friend, man of the ages. he has truly caught the zeitgeist of our time and has become the harbinger of things to come. A man who turns adversity into triumph, a beacon of hope for us all, Jew Gentile, Black man, white..........Punk Rock Mike is da bomb, yo.
Like the above stated, my name is Punk Rock Mike, and I am the host of a punk, ska, and indie web-radio show called Suburban Hell. I have been around since 1998, and after a short sabbatical off the air I am returning to the airwaves, or web-waves, as it were, on a site called "RadioFTW".
Alright so this show is dedicated to the burbs, and the hell that is life in the burbs.
Musically speaking, you're gonna hear a lot of fast, angry punk, mixed in with some melodic ska, and some sad bastard indie rock, and hell we might even throw some metal, classic rock, and dare I say emo in there depending on what comes up when I hit the random button...SPOO-KAY!
Main Points to the show:
For those of you who dig getting out and seeing shows, you'll want to pay close attention to "The Get Your Ass Off The Couch And Do Something Report" where I'll announce shows you'll want to check out each week, depending on where in the world you are.
I'll also have a "New Release" segment. As most people know, Tuesdays are the day for new releases to CD, DVD, and Video games, and since we're a radio station I'll be focusing on one new CD and playing a couple tracks off it so that if you like it you can go pick it up. A little try before you buy, if you will.
And the coup de gras for Suburban Hell: "New Music Hour", where I'll be showcasing some of the best new bands across the globe no one's ever heard of, as well as some more recognizable bands with brand new stuff. I urge everyone to listen to the bands and if you like what you hear support em, buy their albums, go to their shows, etc. It's sad to think that when I started New Music Hour back in 1998, that there's only 2 bands left of the 15 or so I had that inaugural season on the air, and it's not because they sucked, they just didn't get the support.
And that's the show in a nutshell.
About The Station
Ever been playing a game and gotten sick of hearing the same, crappy soundtrack the developers put into it? Well WE are your solution. Whether you be an Orc, an Elf, or some Crimefighters in tights; whether you be trapped in The Matrix or trapped in a sand dune on Tatooine; and whether you are a gangsta in San Andreas, a quarterback for the All-Madden Team, or just the best damn sniper in your squad, this is the place for you.
Keep it locked into Radio For The Win all day long for wall-to-wall tunes and some of the most talented Djs on the planet.
Disclaimer
Our DJs play and say what they feel is appropriate for their show.
