So i've been with the same company for years. actually i take that back. i worked for sprint for 5 years and then they sold a bunch of us off to ericsson for a manage services contract. i've been with ericsson over 2 years. i love my job and i cannot remember the last time (minus a full week of vacation) where i worked less then 45-50 hours a week in about a year. i've done everything i could and get along well with my teammates.
that being said. i was laid off yesterday. on my birthday. and i know it wasn't a performance thing because i wasn't the only person that busted their ass for the company to get laid off. but just a victim of a numbers game i suppose. i'm not mad at the company but i am a bit scare of what to do next. i've been in the same line of work for 7+ years and have been working on computers professionally for 12 years. now all of a sudden with a couple pieces of paper my ass is jobless. sometimes i just wish the bean counters and presidents of groups really came down and saw the kind of hours they are asking of people and the work we go above and beyond to do.
oh well. i'm scared, jobless, angryish and stressed.
