Apologies for the general lack of blogging, or indeed appearing on the fine site of late.
I would like to blame a combination of work stress, girlfriend ecstasy, and the sheer terror of my impending exams for this.
However, there are two things I feel I must comment on.
Jan Moir's column on the death of Stephen Gately: I am sure I was not alone in the absolute horror as I found out about this article. I have read it, read her response, and a few other articles. And ultimately remain disgusted at the poor level of journalism that seems to be acceptable in the tabloids today. And I am sorry, but even if it wasn't meant to be homophobic, it certainly could be construed as such. As a journalist she should have the brains to use the english language as designed. If she meant to draw a comparison between civil partnerships and marriages, maybe she should have just done that.
Still on that topic, albeit a tangent. Stephen Fry rules. "I gather a repulsive nobody writing in a paper no one of any decency would be seen dead with has written something loathesome and inhumane"
For your continued decency, integrity and intelligence I salute you Stephen Fry. You are a person, who should I meet you I would be frightened to say anything lest I sound stupid, and yet know you would never seek that result. You are the very best of the Brittish
Sadly, I move on to the worst of Brittish. I don't know who else saw Panaroma last night, I used to live in Southmead, and whilst not racially motivated, I was assaulted by a gang there. My friends have similarly experienced assaults in the area. I'm not comparing, merely making an observation that Southmead is a place where the worst can be found. That said, one of my best friends is from the region and to my knowledge has never even had a racist thought, nor has his fine family...I guess from shit, something better can grow.
I should shut up now. Lest I put my foot in it somewhere.
I hope you are all well, and I love each one of you.
