my grandfather's funeral was yesterday. this is going to be a difficult adjustment for my grandmother. she has always been his priority. the doctors were talking about putting him on dialysis last week, but he didn't want to do it because it would be too hard on grandma. the hardest part of the viewing/funeral was seeing my grandmother so broken-hearted. she kept kissing his forehead and telling him that she loved him. they've been married for 64 years.
he told the nurse that he was feeling well enough to sit up in a chair instead of laying in bed. she helped him over to the chair and asked if he was feeling ok because he was looking a little pale. he said he felt fine, then he laid his head back and died.
he had told my dad that he hoped he could go like his brothers had gone; relaxing in a comfortable chair. there you go, grandpa. you got your wish.
