"I fucking hate Priuses."
--Roach D. Roach
Or would that be "Priusi"? Personally, I think they are hideous but I like them. Roach is just a little grumpy about all the schmeeds in LA who used to drive fucking Hummers who have switched to the Prius and are now spouting holier-than-thou nouveau-environmentalist bullshit. And I suppose that, for that, I can agree with him a little. But hate the player man... not the game.
So yes, I am back from la. I had a really great time. If any of you are going to go on vacation, I recommend that you don't make too many plans. Makes for a peaceful trip.
FRIDAY:
My plane out of Denver was about 2 hours late so I spent a thrilling 4 hours at the airport (oh joy). Finished my book and had to rush to the news-stand to grab another with about 2 minutes to board. It kinda sucked but whatchagonnado?
Got into la about 8:30 and then kicked it for awhile and then grabbed some late dinner in Venice at Mao's. Good stuff.
SATURDAY:
Woke up early to watch the Tour then headed to Santa Monica for some breakfast and strolling around. There was this shoe store with a friggin' HUGE line coming out of it and apparently la doofuses (doofusi?) will stand in line to get a $150 25 year old shoe. Never seen a shoe drop before and I must admit, it was amusing.
We kicked it for the rest of the day then headed to the Whiskey to see Tenacious D. Bought a Star Map on the way there just to be super-duper dorky (no... we didn't actually drive by any star homes. That would have been totally lame.) and got mocked by some no-glasses wearing Harley dork. Which made me laugh. "How's your vacation going?" HAHA.
The D rocked the mother fuckin' house down, incidentally. As if you didn't know that already.
Grabbed some shitty food at a diner on the way back to the casa del Roach, attempted to watch SNL (which apparently has become unwatchable, once again) and hit the sack.
SUNDAY:
Slept in a little as my alarm didn't go off and then grabbed some breakfast in Santa Monica. Some little place across the street from Rand. Dunno the name but it was good. Then we we hit 3rd street for a bit and then went to some weird department store... Fred something. This place was nearly intolerable for me. But at the same time pretty amusing. $200 shirts. $300 jeans. $50 schmeed t-shirts. We got lambasted by some big-breasted, high-maintenance dipshit clerk for wearing our shirts too big which was pretty funny. All in all, this store was amusing but I had to get out of there before my head exploded.
Just kicked it the rest of the day then headed down to the Santa Monica Promenade for dinner at Houston's.
MONDAY:
Headed to Venice again for breakfast then to the airport to head home. Overall, a great, relaxing fun time in la.
I was unable to hook up with Voltaire as planned but am hoping to get back out there very soon to get together with her.
