Spring is creeping up the canyon. Color slowly moving higher and higher up the mountainside. Today, as I descend into the valley, I am struck by the sheer beauty of it all. The peaks are lit from the low angle of the morning sun; glowing as if from within. The acres of pine at their feet is flocked with a fresh dusting of snow and all i quiet.
Days like these make be happy to be awake at such an early hour. One can catch glimpses of activity that others are destined to miss while locked in their slumber. Like the faint tracks in the snow made by mice shuttling seed to their nests.
The farther I descend, the more the fleece on the trees is replaced with budding leaves. Here, green beginning to replace winter's cap of white. Tulips, still wrapped in tight balls of color wait for the sun to warm them so they can shed the layer of snow and unfurl.
Springtime in the Rockies... it's the contrast that makes it so wonderful.
