"never play lady of spain again!"

well this worked out nicely. i was all prepared to do a slap shot entry and low and behold... today is paul newman's birthday. happy birthday reg!
so... quite a few years ago, a good friend of mine had the opportunity to work on late night with david letterman[i/] (or whatever it was called back in the late 80s). he was an intern and worked mostly as paul shaffer's assistant.
one night, dave asked paul for some hockey music. something to go with one of his guests or whatever. paul, not knowing fuck-all about the sport, turned to mark (a sports fanatic) and asked, "mark, what should i play for this segment?"
mark, not missing a beat replied, "why, lady of spain, of course."
during the segment, as paul launched into the opening chords of the song, letterman stopped him and asks, "why the hell are you playing lady of spain?" you have to love an inside joke played out on nation-wide television.
