Whoop!
Got me a foto pass for DJ Shadow at the Academy across in glasvegas but the day before yesterday,
(Cheers Skinny mag/Dave)
which was nice,
well, it was excellent infact,
though,
I was told I'd get 20 minutes when Shadow came on,
intro and complete darkness for about 7 mintues, sigh!
Then he came out, and had a good old chat,
then started some tunes, and the visuals were awesome, but very very soon after he started palying, I was,
removed, told to leave the photo pit by the big men in black, so i put my stuff back in my bag, head away from the stage, and the said man, grabs my by the shoulder and guides me to the side entrance.
I was thrown out in the rain, without even getting my jacket on.
bunch on cnuts.
I returned to the main door, after smaking a cigarette, I told the man what happened, and he confrimed, I had had all the time mt pass allowed me at the gig.
fuck.
Telling me Id have to take it up with the promoters,
a man came out, and the rockstaedy chump asks him
"can we let photographers back in?"
"yeah, thou woithout their equipment i suppose"
score,
back in, gave my rucksack, with my camera and everything in it, to a security guard
(no ticket or nuthing tho, of course) who hid it in the box office.
man, what a freakin palava, I was the only photographer there, and well, I didnt see any trouble all night, ao I suppose it gave the knuckleheads something to do,
but then, well, I was told no flash, so i didnt use any, not wanting to get myslef thrown out or nuthink,
and I did everything that was askied of me,
but what about all the other fools in the crowd, who were flashing away merriliy,
right enough, their flashes were most likely just bringing the back of everyone else infront of thems heads into their small digi cam pics,
they werent thrown out,
they only had 'wee' cameras,
but then I, who stands the best chance of getting a 'good' photo,
[granted, it was in actuaulity, perhaps the least photogenic gig EVER, but that's beside the point]
am given strict controls,
and get freakin thrown out into the pissing rain,
because i had the 'special priviledge' of a photo pass.
rant over.
sorry,
it was sweet, I got to fanny around right at the front for a while,
and brief rain smattering aside,
it was a pretty ace gig,
Shadow dropped some old classics, some Organ Donor and the like, Mashin on the Motorway had the crowd erupting!
And also, in a freaky Edinburgh village occurance,
Dave (Skinny music ed) had arranged to meet up with his chums Battles, at the gig,
and that said chum was kind enough to give us a lift back to the 'burgh,
turns out that it was, infact Battles from here,
"battles, are you battles as in SGScotland battles?!"
"YEah!"
"chorlte chorlte tee hee" much hilarity and a most handy ride home.
Thanks Battles, you ledge!
All in all, what a wednesday, ace gig, some photos, new friends and a ride home.
Oh, adn check out my pics,
like I said, the least photogenic gig ever
