We lost.
It was a last second shot that deflected off the wall and dropped right onto the foot of one of their strikers and he slotted it away.
The buzzer goes and our team looks up at the scoreboard and it reads 9-8.
Fuck.
Another loss, although this was a moral victory. It's just shame we wouldn't have gotten a point in the standings for that.
Not bad for a team that was missing several players and our two back up goalies. My roommate Mike was in goal, and he hasn't played keeper since he was 5 on a little kids soccer team in nearby Livonia.
Yet he kept us in the game (to the chants of VLAD-I-KOV!) , and our defensive set up had us 2-2 at half, and with two goals in the last minute of the game making it 8-8...about 10 seconds away from getting the draw.
We didn't, but under the circumstances....like having only one guy sub and one girl sub for most of the game while they had about 20 people they could shuffle in and out we did well.
Hence, moral victory.
Tomorrow I hope for some real ones. Croatia play Ingerlund and the US play T&T, a win for the US and Croatia would make my day, one has quite a good shot at it (the US) and the other (Croatia) is missing two of their best players of this generation against a team that wants revenge for being completely embarrassed and kicked out of the Euro 2008.
I've found a US supporters group here in Michigan, but due to a Euchre engagement, it looks like the pub is out and I've got to watch the match on DVR. Sacrifices we make eh?
Just remember: Za sve one koji sera po nama. "For those who shit on us". Our day will come.
Hopefully, it's tomorrow and next Tuesday for my indoor teams next league match.
Now I'm going to continue icing my feet. This turf toe is fucking killing me.
Slainte!

Oh no. That ship sailed last night. It gives me some power, and she will not have that.
