Boxing is finally really beginning to start. I attended our officers meeting with the IU Club association last Tuesday.
I have to personally get going on trying to get some Indiana Boxing merchandise printed, if anyone has any interest in a shirt or something, let me know and Ill see if I can send some out.
Training should start within a week or two, something I am somewhat looking forward to, and something I am not. These 6-8 weeks of full on cardio are going to fucking kill me, but it will get me in the best shape of my life. If I want to take an amateur career seriously, Ill have to get down to 280 by the end of the summer. Its definitely going to be a shock therapy type approach in which I will probably be exhausted for weeks to come.
In other news: I love Bagpipes. They are by far my most favorite instrument in the history of the world. Something about them just makes me want to take the fields at Falkirk and slaughter people. They are the ultimate pump up for me, and have been since I can remember.
That being said, many of you may know of this Irish Punk genre. Bands such as Dropkick Murphys, Real Mckenzies, Flogging Molly, The Tossers etc.
I found a new band years ago, that Ive somewhat kept to myself until recently. I first heard the band driving around Detroit with my roommate a few years ago when the band came on 89X.
The band is known as Mudmen; they are from Canada and have created a new style by fusing ferocious bagpiping with modern day rock. Its an amazing combination of ballads, high octane and drinking songs. I recently received their new album "Defending the Kingdom", and its all Ive been listening to for the past 6 hours.
Its that good.
If you are interested at all, let me know and I can send some your way to see if you like them.
