I have a chain whip and you don't.
Wow, I just got my first chain whip yesterday; I spent half the day out in the freezing cold yesterday learning how to use this incredibly elegant and dangerous weapon. There was some pain involved--even with the end padded. I have always wanted to learn how to use a shaolin chain whip and this is just so fucking exciting for me--I know, I'm a fucking kung fu geek.
I've decided to learn how to play drums. I feel the need to create. It might not be so wise to go buying a drum set; I can't really afford it, but nevertheless, I'm going to get one. And I'm going to work really hard at getting some skills--which I guess may replace the fire staff training for which I was searching. I haven't had any luck getting someone to teach me, although I have come up with a few "original" spins of my own. I guess I can only do so many things at once--grad school, kung fu, and drums will leave me little time for other endeavors, if I give those three disciplines the devotion they deserve. Hopefully I won't find the drums too discouraging. They seem pretty tough, and I don't know anything about the technical/practical side of music.
I'm not sure why, but lately I've really been challenging myself in many ways, probably more than I should.
Also been too damn introspective--I should just chill the fuck out. Which is what I'm gonna do right now--after I spin the chain whip in the yard a few times, that is.
You rule.
