A couple of months back, a friend of mine sold me his iPod mini for $100. In hindsight, I really should have waited until I had $200 to spend on a brand new one. Why? Well, my friend sold it to me with the battery nearly shot. He also mentioned that he knew where to get one for $25-30, so I thought, "OK, no big deal". Well, any iPod owner knows that replacing the batteries in those fuckers is NOT a DIY job. Nope, you've gotta take it to the Apple store and have it disassembled and reassembled by a professional. That costs about $100. Even if I bought the $25 battery and took it to the Apple store to have it installed, they'd probably still charge me $60. It's the labor, not the parts, that makes it so pricey. Ah well, you live & learn, I guess.
Good thing I didn't ditch my Discman the minute I got the iPod!

maybe because of this there will be this great 99 dollar deal somewhere and you'll get a brand new for super cheap.
