BIKE UPDATE!
After missing out on a nice little English 531 framed 1990s Falcon I found this for $40
It's a Miyata 310, probably 1984, with Miyata's own triple-butted Cr-Mo tubeset and MangaLight fork. The front wheel looks to have been replaced at some point, but it's a nice although rather skinny Ambrosio Extra Elite 19 on a 105 hub. The rear wheel looks original - an Araya 27x1 alloy on a traditional Suzue cup'n'cone

(unfortunately it looks like the tire might be original too!)
Brakes are Shimano Z-series (BR-Z57 calipers + BL-Z326 drilled non-aero levers)
Probably the nicest and most unusual feature is the very early Shimano 105 'Arrow' groupset. I was planning on making this a single-speed conversion but the Arrow is so pretty I may just have to leave it on
The freewheel is an early 600 'IG'
She seems to be cleaning up nicely although when I popped the rear skewer the axle fell out in pieces
