Last weekend my roommate\best friend since 5th grade, Dan & I drove out to eastern Mass. to my older brother, Mike's apartment to celebrate his 24th birthday. We got pretty buzzed, and hung out with his friends (who seemed nice enough, for the most part.) Later on we watched Interpol on Last Call.
This weekend Mike came over our apartment, which is on the western side of the state. Friday, it was just Mike & I, because Dan went to a party for someone at his job. We talked for a while about politics, music, and how appealing living in Canada would be. He's quite infatuated with a girl there who's he's been talking to online. The feeling's mutual, lucky him, so he might go through with it. We watched 'The Bourne Identity', which was okay.
We went shopping yesterday. I picked up a few things: The 'Flake Music' CD I'd been looking for - unsuccessfully - online, Mount Eerie (new Microphones,) the Citizen Kane DVD (which is packed with extras, including a two-hour documentary & Roger Ebert commentary,) and Vertigo & A Clockwork Orange mini-posters. I finally got to sleep when returned (I hadn't slept since before he arrived.) I didn't get to sleep long, though, since I had to work at 9pm.
The Flake Music CD's pretty great. It's a worthy predecessor to "Oh, Inverted World". "Mount Eerie" couldn't have a more fitting name, since it's both epic & ominous. I like how it continues from the last track on "The Glow, Pt. 2". Can't say much more about it, though, as I haven't really sunk my teeth into it, yet.
I think I'm going to move to a city next, I'm not sure, though. I want to live somewhere where there's more to do than play pool and go bowling. This town is pretty sad. I've always lived in the tiny towns in this area. Of the sixteen places I've lived in throughout my childhood & teenage years, not one of them has had anything to do. No clubs, interesting shops, movie theaters, or anything. City life seems much closer to my speed, I think. I'll have to start saving up.
