Back home again to Canada!
Seattle was cool, we got to see the Pike Place Market which I've been wanting to see since I was like 14. So that was very exciting for me...Unfortunately we weren't able to get together with anyone in Seattle because I was shooting and also ended up getting pretty sick the first night we were there. The photographer we stayed with allowed us to stay in his huge loft while he stayed behind in his old apartment finishing the last packing details. It was right by Safeco field, so that was neat. Seattle was a bit overwhelming, and transit was strange so we took a lot of cabs and spent a lot more money than intended...Also one of my dermal top pieces unscrewed itself and we had to take an emergency trip to this little piercing place to get it replaced. The people there were super interesting though, so we didn't mind too much in the end. Just sucked having to spend all that moo-las! Haha.
THEN WE WENT TO PORTLAND! I'm in love with Portland. I really am. I got to meet a few really awesome people, and I hope to meet the rest of the gang when I go back! I'll most likely be back in February for the white party. We were invited back to stay with a photographer next time we come up so we won't have to pay for the B&B! (Which was expensive, beautiful, but hella fucking awkward because it was a full house with 4 other people and 1 bathroom....)
Our favourite area by far was Mississippi Ave. They had this pizza place (Mississippi Pizza) that had MOIST dough. and it was SQUISHY. And SO GOOD! We had two pizzas two nights in a row. That's how fucking good this stuff was. Omg. GO THERE IF YOU CAN!
Also, Powell's books...It's...Rooms and rooms and floors of books. I found the most incredible books on mandalas and the liberal arts.
I'm not sure how much I've mentioned my meditations in the past, but I'd like to do a more in depth blog later about my journey.
I also had a pretty cool shoot in Portland. The photos should be good, though it was very exhausting and the photographer said a few things that put me off. When told to watch for my skin pinching at the side, he told me that sometimes when he works with models that are bigger than I am he has to spend hours photoshopping out pinches and rolls and such. I was just..Taken back by that. Especially because, no offence to him, he was a larger fellow. I thought it was rude to mention at all.
I myself do not photoshop "rolls". If there are "imperfections" that I feel would distract from the art of the photograph, THAT is what I photoshop out. (For example, a pimple that couldn't be covered by make up in a shoot that requires brightly lit skin and a close up of the area). If the "flaw" or "Imperfection" does not distract, than I do not bother. I don't feel that it's necessary. I don't even use photoshop for most things. I try to do everything in camera.
I dunno guys. Whatever.
Umm so yeah! I hope everyone had a wonderful week :) What did everyone get up to? Anything exciting happen in the SG world that I may have missed?
