As gay as this sounds... I feel like, right now, in my life I can relate best to Anakin Skywalker. Anakin changing and dealing with his personal demons alongside with his "destiny" as being the one to bring order to the chaos in the universe. Although I don't see myself turning to the "dark side". EVERY day at work is a test of my wits, patience, knowledge, determination, priorities and self-reliance. That feeling rides a roller coaster that goes up and down like night and day.
Ode to me.
* the upside: Yesterday I got a $150 tip at my first birthday party from a multi-million dollar family. One thing I have learned is that people with money have more to lose and that is why they seem to be "cheap" and cop out with being good tippers and/or showing appreciation for a good deed done. Over the years I have managed to work for high income families and have them treat me with respect because of the way I present myself. My boss cares about nothing more than making more money and his answer to everything is "yes" everyone to death. After you "yes" someone to death, especially if they have been raised in an environment with above average education, the people you are answering to get bored, pay their dues and expect you to leave. I'm showered with appreciation, handed money and asked to come back.
On my second show I worked for a blue collar family that tipped me $10 and I was happy. I was happy because they acknowledged my work and a little girl at their show made my weekend! I pulled up to their drive way and this girl jumped up and down waiting for me. The funny thing is that she wasn't even the birthday girl but just a guest. I got out of my car and she said "Hey, you came to my preschool!" I remembered her because I went to her classroom for a Halloween show and dressed up as a "safari" man and this girl stuck as one of those children you see 1 out of every 100 that is a 100% nice child: patient, smiling, asks direct questions without adult mind-warping and who likes to help others. When I was getting ready to leave she ran up and offered to share her popcorn with me. I told her I couldn't eat it (you all know about my corn allergy!) and she said o.k. and I told the dad at the show to let that girl's mom know about my business starting up and to give her my business card to go to her b-day party. I drove away and while everyone was eating, drinking, chasing wild kids... this girl waved good-bye until she couldn't see me anymore. Seriously, I don't care how bad your life is going but when you see a kid smiling just to be in your presence... yea, nothing beats that feeling. I know I will be happy as a dad in the future but I'm in NO WAY going to court that life-changing event until I have business/profession to support a family.
And, on I go.
In other news, I got a new turtle. An Eastern painted turtle... looks like this. She is pretty, tame and healthy as can be
DIVE right in while the fruit is ripe!
I've already told you about my love with Death. This version is pretty cute for such a morbid icon.

awww....i have no words or wisdom with shitty work situations, except to leave. which isn't always the best option, becuase sometimes work is more than a job, it's a career and it's not easy to just leave. but, you can come drink much if i open a bar. it's funny, my work stuff now is related to having a lot to do, in a short time - but i'm now working with people that seem to understand and appreciate this. i think i would rather have a hurting brain in the rpesent circumstances than the hurting everything in the old job. have a good monday.
