His first fully formed, conscious thought was My left knee joint's second pin is cracked. Regular stress of walking will strain it to fracture, then breakage. It will need to be replaced as soon as possible.
A voice came with his vision, almost as though it had triggered it. "Are you all right? Asked the black-haired, pale-skinned girl as she slowly came into focus.
The robot sat up. "There are some minor damages, specifically to my left knee, probably due to standard wear and tear. Unfortunately, I will need a new pin of diameter 2 dan and length 23 dan soon or the old one wil snap, and I will be rendered incapable of supporting weight on my left leg."
"Oh." Said the girl, rising from her knees. Her hands were clasped over her chest in a self-conscious manner. The answer was clearly not what she was expecting. "Well, I'm sorry to hear that."
"Why would you be sorry?" Asked the robot.
"Because of your injury." She said.
"I'm not injured. I'm damaged" Said the robot. "And you didn't cause the damage, so there is no need to apologize."
"I see." The girl stammered. It was at this point that the robot noticed the protrusions of feather from her back.
"You've got wings." He said.
"That's right." Said the girl. "I'm an angel."
"Well, I'm a robot." Replied the robot.
The angel looked puzzled. "What's a robot?"
The robot thought about this for a minute. "It's a machine that is designed to work by itself without help from humans."
"Oh. Alright. What's a robot doing all the way out here?"
The robot searched his memory banks, but found that he could not remember any events since being re-activated. "I don't know." He said. He brushed his fingers against his head and found a rather large dent over where his memory core resided.
"Well, I'm heading to Dorter- it's a little village- to try and find a friend of mine." The angel said. "Would you like to come with me?"
"That would do for now." Said the robot. "I have no memory, which means my memory banks are damaged. Perhaps familiar surroundings would bring them back. Please lead the way."
