Jon Lajoie was fuckin funny live. he is actually pretty funny beyond just his songs. he did do a lot of songs though, but mostly the ones that could be done solo/acoustic, like these:
they worked perfectly live (one guy with acoustic guitar)
plus, he did the "Birthday Song, from episode 1 of The League, which was clearly a crowd favorite (along with High as Fuck)
he did some "stand up" but it was mainly explaining that he was new to stand up (being an internet video guy), and that he learned there were rules to stand up, which he went on to explain/demonstrate in hilarious fashion, lol....
he opened his set with Everyday Normal Guy, (MY FAVORITE!!!), and closed the set with Show Me Your Genitals (not my favorite, but clearly one of his "hits") , both to prerecorded music tracks, and in full costume (see videos below):
he took a few breaks, burring which is ran some of his "commercials" on video, which was awesome, since they are funny as fuck and would not translate over to a live act very will, so it worked that he just ran a few of them here and there.
.
a couple things i wished he would have done... the "Being Gay" commercial, and the song "Stay-At-Home Dad", but it would not have been as good as the video doing it live (no lights, heavy music, and baby, lol)... so i see why he left it out.
he should do a tour of regular clubs (like Tenacious D) with a full band and do some of the heavier shit and rap stuff.
all in all is was awesome though. i go to the Improve every now and then, as they give tickets away all the time, but 99% of the time i just go not even knowing who the acts are. this is the first time ever that i went not only knowing who was going to preform, but someone i have followed for years and was dying to see.
