One big project down! Three to go, one is my book, so we know I will do that easily.
I planned the last All School session for Upward Bound. Those nights are when we have all the schools that we teach in one building. It gets rough. And the old guard there like to have four seperate activities going on in one room, and then students go in groups and rotate. Yeah, not good.
Since I was in charge and made it ONE room. I MCed, I had our wonderful head of Theatre, Dr. Taylor speak to the kids about Theatre and it's importance. Then, three Creative Writing students read their own poetry or fiction and amazingly the kids paid attention. We had Dr. G-M speak about English, writing (Creative and Paper) and some career choices and the like.
I finished them off by having them start with a huge piece of paper, sit in groups of 7 and start two lines of a story. The pages were then rotated to the next table for that group to add to it, and rotated one more time for the same thing before going back to the original group. They concluded the story, and then one person from each group read it out to everyone...
It went SURPSINGLY well, never seen them have so much fun actually at one of our All Schools..
That really helpd my mood out.
