I am tired. I'm not sure why because I got 7 hours of sleep.. which should be enough.. but clearly isn't.
I bought this really awesome print from Seth Wood for James' brithday. One of his gifts. He's probably also getting some type of computer for his recording. But that's less birthday and more life in general.. So the print is going to be a fun gift. I'm having it framed all fancy with a big gold frame. I love big gold frames.

anyway. I saw baby mama last night. It was funny. Different than i had anticipated.. but really funny. We went with James' best friend, Tim.
Today I have a very frustrating day ahead. I have a client who is really pushing my buttons. She's super super nice... but expects me to do things special for her. Like redraw her tattoo twice. Not because I didn't draw what she wanted.. but because she changed her tattoo idea. Then, she wanted to change the placement.. Then she decided not to get it and wanted her deposit back. I'm not sure if you guys know what a deposit is.. but generally speaking most people do not. I tell them I take a deposit to make sure that they are serious about the tattoo. That way I don't waste my time drawing all day for free. The deposit does not pay for my time drawing. If you cancel after i draw it.. I STILL lose money. So asking for it back after I've drawn your tattoo not once.. but three times? So isn't going to happen. Then.. The client does not respond or call for 9 months. Then emails and asks to have her appointment set up or have her money back. I don't respond because I'm angry. She sends me another email saying she'd like to do the tattoo, and that she still has the image I emailed her (which is about half the size and 75 dpi) and that she'd like for me to be the person she chooses to do the tattoo. THAT I DREW. Huh. So I say fine and take an appointment. She calls a few days before and moves it back a week. So now I have it with her today. Normally I don't say anything bad on here about people in case they read it. But Honestly, I'm not name-calling here. I'm just stating the facts and the etiquette of tattooing. The point I'm getting at is that I want people to get amazing tattoos that they love. I do not, however, want to have no money. I know people think that tattooists are rockstars and sit around with dolla dolla bills. But this isn't the case. We have to draw all sorts of stuff and much of it we don't like. Just like at everyone else's job. You think i like drawing harley logos? C'mon. But I do and and do it well. And I expect to be paid for doing a good job, being clean, and having higher standards than the average shop. So it's a little frustrating when someone pushes me and makes it seem like I'm being a bitch because I expect to get paid at my job. Since i spent about 3 hours drawing her tattoo in total, and her tattoo will only cost 150ish and will take another hour and a half. Then you have to think about paying for my bills/booth rental and supplies. And not I'm making freaking 7$ an hour. So it's very frustrating how miami ink and all of those shows don't explain this aspect. They just show the drawing and the person showing up. I should just give up and be like "choose something off the wall" because that's where the real money is.
