This past weekend was incredible!
I went to a housewarming party for my friends awesome house in south philly.
I contributed with a case of beer and even though my friend was sad not as many people made it as said would come I had a blast with the people there. Great drunken times indeed!
Sunday was the High on Fire/Mono/Panthers/Coliseum show at the TLA. I had my doubts about going, because I really am not a fan of that place because of the sound and the floor is on a slant(they fixed it thankfully for the part near the stage). Well the show didn't do to well sales wise. It drew 400 people which is a little less than half capacity in that place. I thought there would be more since High on Fire is an up and coming band and it was a night before a holiday. Well the music was great for the most part.
Coliseum, dudes from Louisville, KY. Great dudes by the way! They got a new drummer before the tour and man was he fantastic! He was energetic and looked like he was having a ton of fun! Coliseum played a lot of new stuff, which the new record No Salvation sounds amazing. Also you should all get the record, its on white with a colorful splash and in a gatefold sleeve and the art work is amazing! They were really tight and really good sunday night!
Panthers- I like them, but sunday night they were boring and not so tight. I guess they didn't do their drugs or get wasted before hand but whatever it was, they were not on. They played mostly stuff from the new record which I was not impressed with anyway.
Mono-Lets just say that was one of the best sets I have seen these guys play! They played an hour and without stopping! They make their genre of music sound like an art form. All I could do is just stand there in awe! They were by far the best band of the night and probably on the tour, depends what genre of music you like best.
High On Fire-I think Matt Pike is a metal genious, I really like the new record, and he has a great voice for the music. He also plays his 9 string guitar masterfully! He has the talent to pull off the rthym and the lead guitars all by himself. High On Fire played the new record actually straight through. at the end they played some older songs. I liked it, but why straight through?!
I am now house sitting for my grandparents who are in China for 3 weeks. They have a huge rancher on a lake, I am loving it!
