This weekend so far has been quite amazing!
2 nights and 2 really good shows!
Friday night was the better show though.
It was Das Oath/Ampere/Off Minor/My Disco
My Disco- who is this albiniesque band from the land down under aka Australia. They are probably named after a big black song. They were really good and for hearing them for the first time I was blown away and the cd is also very good! If you are a fan of any of Steve Albini's bands like rapeman, big black, or shellac you will like this band a lot.
Off Minor-When I saw them on the list of bands to play I was like, these guys still play music!? These guys played with a lot of intensity but they were pretty sloppy. But they still have the good intensity that makesthem off minor! They are on the lines of screamy post hardcore.
Ampere-Ampere just kills it live and are extremely tight for a "emo-violence" band. They thrive on just fast songs with killer vocals! But ampere wasn't really at their best, at least not from the multiple times I have seen them. Maybe it was the stoppage of play caused by a little tussle from this drunk asshole running headfirst into everybody in a small basement. We tried stopping him and he tries to fight the whole room(he ripped my shirt when I tried holding him down to calm him while his gf yelled in my face"he is just trying to have fun!") But the show went on and the fun continued without the two!
Das Oath- The wait is finally over to see this band that I have been buying records for over the last 2-3 years. I bought into the ex members of charles bronson hype. But seriously if I was to explain their sound I would be like, they are a little less power violence and a little more thrashy hardcore. They were quite amazing! Just all out destroying with anger and emotion type music. They were quite awesome!
Tonight was Kill Your Idols/Forward To Death(last show ever)/The Ergs/Spanish Bombs
Spanish Bombs- for a new band they were really awesome! I like their sound a lot and they showed a lot of energy.
The Ergs-let me tell you they are probably one of my favorite bands of the moment! Seriously some rocking shit! They play as a 3 peice from NJ that play punk rock. The drummer is the singer and they play catchy tune after catchy tune! Some how they hit me that way!
Forward To Death-It was sad to see another really good Jersey hardcore band bite the dust! Especially since the bassist is already in a big band called None More Black which I think isn't that good but are all the hype. They played really well and the kids were goin apeshit!
Kill Your Idols- They are one of my all time greatest bands ever! Seriously as it gets closer to this bands eventual breakup I get sadder and sadder! Tonight was the first time I saw them since their last breakup rumors. But the ones I hear now are their written words. But tonight they fuckin killed it. I love goin off hardcore to my favorite band! They played to perfection!
This weekend was completely awesome and there is tomorrow which I don't know where I will be, but nothing can ruin this weekend for me!
