Last night is the reason I love the punk/hardcore community!
There is this house in Lakewood, NJ and I have made good friends who live in that house. They put together some good shows from mostly local bands. Well yesterday they had this big long show/party for an awesome dude in the hardcore communitiy. Toby(singer for a killer band, Kill Crush Destroy). Well besides having an awesome basement to put on shows The Think Tank(name of the record label) house, they have a pool(which yesterday looked like a pond with algaea and other fun things on the bottom, a hot tub and a basketball court. Yesterday was really fun. The bands I wanted to see were amazing, and I found a new band to jock(thanks to george for booking them last second!). I love going to the think tank house for all these reasons!
So yesterday I got to see an awesome new band! I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, long name, but very intense band from georgia. This 5 piece giving it their all just for a room of about 20-30 kids. It was quite fun watching them yell and thrash their instruments around! Plus after their set while standing outside their guitarist(who I might add is ripped) puts an open challenge up to anyone to box him. He wanted to give it a try since he has never had the experience. We had fun, no one got hurt, but he did land some good shots to the midsection, which killed my energy! The bands I went there to see which were awesome were Yah Mos Def(a rap duo from philly who rap about the hardcore scene from the early 90's, you know back in the day), Dear Tonight(screamy and intense band from Brooklyn), and Kill Crush Destroy(fast hardcore from dirty Jersey!). I love it when friends come together and make something like this spectacular!
