New poem, first in too long.
"Like"
like a thunderstorm trapped in a matchbox
like an ocean of blood stoppered up in a milk bottle
like a beast in too small an enclosure wondering if it might in fact be stronger than its cage
like the entire works of George Orwell cut and condensed into a 20-second infomercial
like a murderer out on parole pretending he can change
like string theory described through the medium of balloon modelling
like people trying to explain what it was that God meant
like everything I want to say to you squeezed into the time I get to say it in
like the Grand Canyon teleported to Derby City Centre
like a bomb inside an atom
like the horizon clutched in a fist
like these words now that buckle and break under the weight of their own meaning but are the best I can offer
in these terms
yes
I like you
