Well, I didn't get to see Biohazard after all the other night. As it turns out, Evan (bassist/vocals) is ill so they cancelled their tour.
But I spent $21 on the ticket, so I was determined to at least try to sit through some of the show. 5 bands. (orignally 4, but they brought in 2 bands to take Biohazard's spot... sorry jack, that just ain't gonna make diehard fans feel any better). The headliner was KITTIE, who I've heard before, but weren't really "into" them.
But I didn't even make it to their set. I ended up leaving during the 3rd band's set because I just got disgusted with the bands.
The first band (the name I don't recall) TRIED to be heavy, but even as much as they tried, they came off about as heavy as Candlebox (not EVEN heavy). I gave 'em a gold star for effort, though.
Next was a band called Sworn Enemy, a hardcore outfit from NYC. Their MUSIC was actually pretty good. But their bass player kept on doing these karate and roundhouse kicks while making faces trying to emulate the vocals. During every song. SEVERAL TIMES DURING EVERY SONG. Sorry, but that just ends up looking fucking retarded and a distraction. He was showboating so much it took attention away from the actual vocalist. Maybe if they adjust his medication, they'll give a better show. The music was pretty good though.
I forget the name of the third band. Basically, picture five really ugly, long-in-the-tooth, hillbillies trying to play music that could be classified as 80's "heavy metal" (meaning, it should have been played in the 80's... and stayed there). It was not good and it was not pretty. And when the vocalist said to the JAILBAIT at the front of the stage, "You girls are some hot bitches!" ... I just rolled my eyes, had enough, and left. I couldn't even make it through their whole set, much less finishing them then seeing 2 more sets of music I probably wouldn't be impressed with.
So it was $20 down the drain, but at least I got a few chuckles out of it. (a few sickness attacks too)
If anyone wants to find out more about BIOHAZARD or send Evan well-wishes (the whole band is a REAL good bunch of guys), just visit their site at...
