my girlfriend's cat of 12 years passed away yesterday.
i'm now sleep deprived and tired from work as well as emotionally and physically drained from this whole ordeal.
but i'm surviving and doing the best i can to deal with the things that need to be done to make sure ashley's segue into a world without her dear harley is as smooth and painless as possible.
sure, i get a little agitated and aggressive sometimes from the buckets of stress and responsibility dumped on my head, but i'm doing what i can and that's what matters.
in other news, i moved to first shift monday morning. this week has flown by. days of work pass so much more quickly than nights of work.
i feel more like i am part of an actual company, an actual team, and have an actual purpose in my job.
also i am impressing the bosses and making the ladies wet at every turn with my incredible knowledge of my job and my hardcore work ethic.
i had a mechanic climb out of one of the tanks yesterday an come over to me,
"what's your name, man?" and his tone was that which says 'i need to know your name because i am impressed.'
"steven sivley."
"you're a real hard worker man you know that? you don't see many like you come through here. you're a damn good worker."
it made my day. to know that now people notice. now i'm not just the faeries in the night that clean up and make things right. i'm not just the shadow making the parts disappear from the floor, doing my job in silence and without the awares of others.
now i am being noticed.
my boss said she was told by my old boss that i am an expert, and a damn good worker. she said i came highly recommended. my leadwoman also seems impressed by me.
it's amazing.
and then there's my coworker who does absolutely nothing whatsoever but is so damn gorgeous it'll put tears in your eyes and somehow, in some weird way, that makes it OK to me for her to sit down and take it easy while i do all the work. i just can't hold it against her.
i hear she's a lady of the night.
