I posted my first SG news article. Its on an asteroid names Apophis that has a chance of paying us an unpleasant visit on April 13th 2036 (its a Sunday, not a Friday).
So I thought I'd share some books that deal with this subject.
Lucifer's Hammer by Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven is very good. It is SF about what might happen if something hit us. And Rain of Iron and Ice is a very good non-fiction book on the subject.
The bottom line is that the threat is real, better odds than dying on an airplane or crossing the street, but at the same time its unlikely. But we are also not paying for a good detection effort or for ways in which we could as least try and do something.
But look on the bright side, I have 2 punk shows next weekend, that's not in 30 years!
