Hello SG land, yesterday was the last day the circus was here and about 14 activist showed up to protest animal cruelty in the circus. It was really cool to see so many caring individuals standing up for animal rights. I hope these five days I protested I educated some people on circus animal cruelty.
Later that night some of the activist and I waited to video tape the elephant walk to the train station. During this weekend there were three shows a day and the animals had no choice but to perform. As we waited we observed elephants swaying their head back and fourth, this is a sign of psychological distress. We even heard a tiger cry out and that made my heartbreak. I thought about them being kept in a 4x5 cage and drugged and choked all for silly performance.
The police then closed off the streets and my heart began to beat so hard and fast we knew the elephants were going to start walking. The elephants began to walk and they held on to each others tails, there was even a baby elephant walking and I began to cry. The elephant trainers were walking with the elephants and they held a bullhook; a sharp fireplace poker that is used to inflict pain and punishment. The circus employees shined bright lights in our face and cursed at us as we followed them to the train station. It broke my heart to see these beautiful animals being degraded and treated as slaves. Please help abolish animal slavery by not attending circuses that use animal acts. Visit www.circuses.com and www.ringlingbeatsanimals.com for more info and video
