I have been working my ass off for a week now trying to get the new network to work!
Finally I have suceeded!
I can see both OS' from my laptop, my laptop from both OS' and have been able to map drives to make life easier.
Now I seem to have thrown a wrench in the whole shebang!
I have about 3000+ mp3's that I would like to access from my laptop no matter what OS I'm running on the desktop. The issue is that none of the software I have, (musicmatch, winamp, wmp, etc.) can set up multiple libraries. IE. When I'm running XP Pro (for development) and need to go and do something with the laptop, and want to listen to music, I have to rebuild the library in musicmatch to the correct network drive. And vice-versa if I've got XP Home running so my wife can play Sims2 while I work on the laptop.
Now, this may seem like a trivial issue to anyone, but trust me, it sucks!
Soooooo, my latest idea is to find an old system laying around, transfer my second HD to it, reformat a partition to an OS supported by the hardware in said old system and set up a server!
But again I'm foiled!
I've got a copy of 2000 server I can run, I've got either XP I could install and just let run, or even :shudder: I could install 98 and grin and bear it. But the only system layng about at the moment is an old P1 with maybe 16 to 32 mb of ram. I don't think I could convince the wife to allow me to purchase any more hardware to facilitate this endeavor, so I'm up against the proverbial wall. Banging my head against it! :slamhead:
So, Anyone who would like to share any expertise in any issue you can find in this post, please feel free to comment to your heart's content. Anything is better than nothing!
And so to bed....

I too am saving myself for Ep3 so it had better be bloody good, particularly as a cinema ticket in London costs the earth.
