I don't know what to do?
one of my closest friends mothers died tragically on Friday 13,
my friend is 2 week away from having a baby and and the baby shower was to be at her mums house this week end.
its been the most heartbreaking time for her and I am not sure what to say or do
I don't deal well with emotions.
anyone got advice as to how to act in this situation, do I give her time and space? or do I try and engage her in other things to take her mind off it ? or what ?

The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine six months ago. I wish I was closer to her now, so that I could help you more.
As far as I could see, she was honestly too shocked and depressed for anything at all to penetrate her world. My advice? Listen to her, really listen, and watch, and find out what she needs. If she cries, hug her tight. If she ignores you, go make a tea for a bit and give her space for a moment. Make jokes if you can, distraction is always helpful.
The only thing that can ever help her ... is time. And as time goes on, she'll keep on letting you know, in subtle ways, what she needs from you.
Stay positive.
*hugs*
