Well, today the vacation comes to an end. My Okanagan friends have left, and I have to work tonight.
What a week it was, though! Burning around town with my friends, exploring new areas, NOT working (ah, the life)!
My party on Thursday night was pretty swell! All told, about 30 people showed up... which is WAY more than I thought there'd be! We started the evening off with a giant Halo tournament, fueled by the keg of Rickard's Red that arrived shortly after the opening rounds. Eventually, the tournament became a Halo/Tribes/Need For Speed/whatever game and/or system someone decided to put in kinda thing, but that's fine, cause I wasn't winning at Halo anyway! heh heh
Then... the bad stuff began. Around 11 at night, my work friends showed up. Now... each and every person that was at the party before this (about 15-20 people) used to, or still do, live in the Okanagan. I never realized it before, but WE... ARE.... DIFFERENT.
Now, I'll admit, this is the first party I've thrown in Alberta, and I was attempting to mix punks & geeks with... ehm ehm... security officers..... BUT.. I mean, come on! With the right amount of beer everyone should be able to mix up, right???? Heh heh, well... I had a blast walking the line (the thick... glowing... blatantly obvious... line) that separated the two groups, but I can't help feeling bad for... well... the security guards? I mean, learn to loosen up a bit! You don't have to be at a bar to have a good time, and no one's gonna judge you in *MY* house! So, lighten the load... tell a joke... don't pretend you're too cool to be at the party, it's all about having fun!
ANYWAY! That was another rant.... I've had a lot of those lately, and I don't mean to cast a dark shadow all over the party... it was still really fun, and I'm sure *MOST* people had an awesome time! (of course, I couldn't even see straight by the time people started to leave... birthdays are EVIL!)
So, what's next for the agenda? I go job hunting, and I must get busy designing the haunted house if I want to get it done by Halloween!
And now. I go to work at my current job. I was unable to sleep past 11am this morning, despite many attempts at the course throughout the afternoon/evening, so tonight from 11pm until 11am tomorrow, I will be working with about 5 hours of sleep and a headache as a result. I wonder what people will say about Thursday night?
BOO-YA
Peace, love, and
!
