My older half brother is a scumsucking, drug-addicted loser. My father (also his father) is a terrible enabler, pays all of his bills, and basically allows him to steal from my family and screw up our lives. He was caught trying to steal my little sister's computer, and GOT AWAY WITH IT. (not stealing the computer, but trying).
My little sister has a bicycle that she keeps in the front room. I went downstairs today to find a scribbled note on the chair that says something to the effect of "Took your bicycle to solve a problem. Sorry." I called my sister to inform her of this. She calls my parents, who are having an argument about this. My mother yells my name, grabs me by the arm, and throws me into my room, BECAUSE I TOLD MY SISTER HER BICYCLE WAS TAKEN. Her reasoning: I had no right to "interfere" by telling my sister, and I just did it because i like to "cause trouble".
She "sent me to my room". I don't think it's possible to get grounded/sent to your room when you don't live with your parents anymore, and you're over 18 and out of school.
I find it mildly amusing that this is an upper-middle-class family, with a nice house, a pet, and that has been generally respected within the community here. People think my father is an amazing, interesting, caring person. And then he comes home.
