We do the Easter egg hunting thing in the United States too. This year I get to experience it the first time with my boyfriend son, who just turned four. Until this year, he hasn't been old enough to understand the concept of finding the eggs, but I am sure thisy year, he and I both will have a blast. Even though his father and I are not married, I consider him my stepson. I am lived here with them for six months and he only sees his real mother once a week. So I am sort of taking on the mommy role. His father and I however, are really bad a procrastinating, so we must rush out today and get his Easter gift. In the States, children normally get a basket filled with fake grass, candy, and toys. We are going to get a basket that is already made from the store and then add more to it because those things, although expensive, never have enough candy in them! As for the cake thing, we do not bake anything special for the Easter holiday. Although, a lot of families have a big dinner like on Thanksgiving with ham or something of that nature. So basically including the church traditions, we celebrate the same way. Although, I must admit I had never heard of twigs in vases in trees thing. I does sound quite fun though! Thanks for sharing your countries traditions with us and I hope you Easter holiday is a great one!
