I used to be a romantic. Then I became pragmatic. Then I became a realist. Then I became a pessimist.

This is the downward descent of man.

When we are born we are told to dream. What do you want to be when you grow up? Superhero. President. Wold Dictat. Whatever you could imagine.

When we hit a certain age, I'm not quite sure when. We are told to stop dreaming and live in the "real world."

I cannot stress how wrong this is. The real world is a place of hate, violence and soul crushing monotony. And the worst part is that we accept this charge to live in the "real world" because all those who tell us this are the ones we grew up respecting. Our teachers, our parents, the television all tell us how real life is supposed to work, and we buy it.

I have told people to grow up and live in the real world. I'm realizing now that I was just perpetuating the cycle of depression and hate that the world is stuck in.

Never let go of dreams. Never let your common sense cloud your ability to imagine perfection.

This is the lesson.
