Just got back from our honeymoon- the flights were nightmarish, but the stay in Weston, FL (Just 15 to 20 minutes from Fort Lauderdale and Miami) was heavenly.
My Aunt was kind enough to let us stay at a resort using her timeshare. The suite had the feel of a really nice apartment instead of the sterile hotel feel. It came complete with a kitchen and utensils to prepare anything we might want to cook. There was also a large, dual-headed shower, a big whirlpool tub that we loved (took a long, hot, bath every single night). There was a nice dining room set-up, a huge big screen TV, and plush, comfy furniture throughout. We slept in a lot, ate out a lot, and had a wonderful time.
We also hit the Miami Harley Davidson shop, went to the Adventura mall- the biggest mall in FL (all for the sole purpose of going to my first LUSH shop!!), went to the Fort Lauderdale beachfront- I went wading and found some shells and coral washed up on the beach and my hubby sat high and dry and took pictures of me :-) I also insisted that he needed to take me for seafood at least once- he hates seafood, but I love it, and being on the gulf is one of my rare opportunities to eat FRESH seafood! So we went to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant on the beachfront, and it was absolutely delicious! We also found a very nice tattoo shop on Fort Lauderdale beach. I had my nipples re-pierced (I'd really missed them) and my hubby got a beautiful cross tattooed on his left calf to commemorate our marriage.
We didn't want to come back to the cold, rainy weather in Iowa, and expecially back to the day-to-day grind of work! Thanks to my Aunt's generosity, we had a wonderful honeymoon to remember. We are grateful.
