I've got the creeps on top of heebie jeebies, surrounded by wiggins. And also, every light in the house on. I think I may have just driven through a David Lynch film.
I will elaborate. Allow me to set the scene; Rural Indiana, weekday night, late. It's 36 degrees with fog developing and a constant heavy mist. It's pitch black except for the headlights of a vehicle making it's way along a country road. The road twists and turns as it gains and loses altitude with the hills and hollers of the woods that almost meet over the all but gone double yellow line. The naked trees on either side are inky black or boiled meat grey with the weather.
This is the environ I drove home in. That I drive home in. Often. But tonight three great owls flew over the road as I got near to home. Three great owls. Within 5 seconds of each other. Each swooped down from left to right, all brown, all huge, all from about 15 feet up across the road to the other side, just in front of my truck each time. Like nature's record skipped.
Verrry Twin Peaks, y'all.
I grew up in the woods, I live in the middle of nowhere. I have heard fox calls from a sleeping bag. (Author's Note: Fox calls are the most psychologically stressfull and fear inducing of any animal call, as they sound like a 3 year old girl in terror and agony) I have been chased by coyotes. This was SPOOKY.
Also, don't owls have incredibly huge ranges? 3 in less than a quarter mile?
Anyway I'm gonna watch some cartoons or something and try to get my mind off of the whole thing.
