A lot has been written lately of rude, nasty, and generally hateful comments left on sets. I don't understand this.
It's gotta be tough to put pictures of your naked self out there for the world to see, the self-esteem issues alone are pretty substantial. Yes, there is $ involved, but not tons. So why would you knock a gal for supplying what we all came here for?
Under what conditions do you comment "Not for me?" Some times I come across some religious imagery in a set that I don't find appropriate, but I'm an old fogey, I let it be. Are some of the sets repetitious? Yes, but I've been a member for a long time, I let that be, too. Are some sets of gals who are completely not my idea of beauty? Of course, but I've always thought that was the point of the site. The only reason I click "Not for me" (and I don't leave a comment) is when, and it has happened maybe 4 times in 6 years, a girl is so thin as to appear emaciated or unhealthy.
I've worked with troubled kids including young girls and know how powerful the media is to them. I oppose so-called "heroine chic" wherever I might find it, and I wish more folks did. I think SG does a really good job of showing all kinds of healthy feminine body types, but when SG does show one I percieve to not be healthy I let them know.
That does not mean I tear into anyone, or am a sore loser when my favorite gal doesn't go pink. Geez, if that's he biggest thing going on in your life, you got it made.

Right on! It's a shame that people feel the need to say shit like that. Although as somewhat of a newb who probably hasn't gotten to see the dark underbelly of SG, I'd have to say this place is pretty damn amazing compared to the rest of the internet. Kind, supportive, open, and friendly people everywhere! It's great. You just have to ignore the haters. I've dealt with some really awful, sick comments on other sites before and while at times they've hurt me or made me paranoid, I've learned to brush them off the best I can. Not everyone is going to like me and often, the mean comments have nothing to do with me at all, but are just misdirected bitterness and/or jealousy. Hopefully those of us who care can post about this issue more to make sure SG remains a safe space for self-expression.
