Various news while things are rendering...
The wedding was fun. Mom (MIke's mom) ended up getting Ember a room (I think she had a group rate thing going on) so we stayed the night at the hotel. But Ember got a wee bit sick during the night, so I stayed up with her until she started to feel better.
Good thing our room had Cartoon Network, her favorite crappy show was on.
In the morning a few of us got some breakfast and then Ember and I went back to Philly
Just before we left I got a voicemail from my aunt, turns out Kitty has passed away the night before. That sucks... a lot. I remember the day I came home from school and my mom met me on the way telling me she had a surprise. Kitty was fourteen, we (well my aunt and uncle were taking care of my cats when I moved in with them and continued after I left) had her for almost all of her fourteen years exactly. Her liver failed. Also she had an enlarged thyroid which had been under control with medicine. My aunt is not sure if the two were connected, she said the vet never mentioned if there was. I hope there wasn't. She stopped eating about a week ago and my aunt and uncle brought her to the vet, where she lived the last few days hooked up to an IV.
Apparently the vet said an improvement wasn't likely and they were going to bring her back home the next day or so.
Tammy, my other cat, has been meowing a lot since Kitty left for the vet. My aunt says she has only recently calmed down. Tammy has always seemed to know when something bad like this happened. Tammy is 19, and deaf for the past year or so. She has been quite healthy (after a short kidney disease scare that either went away or was misdiagnosed) despite her old age. I really hope she doesn't take a turn for the worse since Kitty is gone. The two of them were never affectionate towards each other, but always displayed concern whenever the other was cooped up in cat carriers.
One of my brother's cats has been acting strangely recently, too. He says she's hiding all the time (more than usual). She's never been a very social kitty, but he says it's way worse, and when she does get mad she doesn't attack like she typical does.
So overall it seems like all the cat owners I know are having cat issues.
Our (Ember and mine) cats are finally showing improvements. Midna's eye infection is gone, so she's hyperactive and naughty all the time again. I guess that's good (but she is more affectionate now). Madison, the fat cat, is also showing some improvement with his respiratory infection. Hopefully another week or two of his medication and he might be all cleared up. I can't wait for him to be healthy again.
Aside from all the cat business, I have some good news. I came into work today to get a small job done, and my boss came in. She said she had to ask me a question.
"Sure."
"How would you like to have a full-time job?"
FINALLY (no, I didn't actually say that!). I am so relieved though. I officially "start" at the beginning of next month. I started interning at the very end of last October, so it'll be just a hair under a full year. Ember says she's gonna take me out for lunch, which at this point is looking to be more like dinner, but we'll see what actually happens, she's got enough finals to work on right now and I know the wedding set her back a bit.
Anyway. Just wanted to get all of that out there. My popups are done rendering and all of these project files are done copying, so it's time to get back to it. Hooray for overtime when I most desperately need it (and luckily my boss also dropped off my paycheck that I missed while at the wedding, which includes all my overtime from the past month). Next week's paycheck is gonna rock with all the recent overtime, as well.
Is there an Apple purchase on the horizon? We shall see. Student loan bills are also on the horizon, so... yeah, the magic 8 ball is really hazy right now. Ask again later.
Update: My brother just texted me, he says he has to put Sage to sleep. God dammit!! What the hell is going on with all these poor cats!?! Is there something in the water? The air? More poison cat food? Why is this happening?!
