The move has begun.
Yesterday, due to some technical difficulties with my shitty PC at work (RAID is failing/fucking up, and After Effects plus RAID failure = After Effects freezes up forever), I got to head out of work early while it took hours and hours to backup my files. Ember and I trained it back to my car, then went to my brother's to pick up my speakers, receiver, and preamp that have been in his garage for a bit, then back to my house to pack a little bit.
Ember's parents were driving with their truck to help us move. They got some GPS navigational thingy that made them take back roads almost the entire way. What should have taken 5-6 hours, took them over 7. And that includes them giving me random road names and trying to use Google Maps to find out where they were (they had no idea) and eventually I had to drive out to meet them and they followed me back to my house.
The problem: It was late and my family was already sleeping and it was raining. But we managed. We got exactly what I wanted to get (my bed, matress, blankets, pillows, and my bureau.). Everything else is small or boxed up so I could man handle that with the Ultra Camry at any other time in the future.
Then Ember and I went to Friendly's while her parents (and dog) drove to their hotel. Their hotel is on the same highway I live off of, except 30 minutes away. Yet they still followed their crazy GPS thingy and didn't call me 20 minutes later when the highway split (Rt. 1 and Rt. 1 business). I don't know about you, but I think of a hotel as a business. Plus they could have called and asked. Instead they got lost and wasted an hour for what should have taken 45-60 minutes. Craziness.
But Ember and I didn't learn about that insanity until about five minutes ago.
After Friendly's we drove to Philly and stayed at her place for one last night. Who-hoo for last time of sharing a tiny bed!
Now it's 8:30 and for once Ember managed to get "ready" faster than myself. She even straightened her sexy hair that doesn't need to be straightened.
Silly coincidence: Her parents are staying at the same hotel my friend and her friends and fiance from Michigan stayed at when they came to Philly for the derby expo. It's very silly. And last night I had a feeling they were staying there, too, but never asked.
Well, time for me to get dressed. I'm still in bed. We're meeting them at their hotel and scoping out the area for breakfast-looking restaurants. And then we'll drive back to Philly to our new building to look over the lease and hopefully sign it. And then move into our new apartment!
My entire left leg is asleep.
