Another April, another APE.
Still recovering from the Alternative Press Expo in San Fran this past weekend. APE is my favorite convention of the year, because it's such a bullshit-less show, filled with people just damned happy to be showing off their creative feathers, no matter if it's cool mini-comics, graphic novels, t-shirts, sculptures, or stuffed animals. or just fucking whatever.
We did well, debuting our first graphic novel, Fragile Prophet. Feedback was swell, sales were good, spirits were up.
This being our third year there, I'm happy to be reaquainted with my "convetion buddies," as Thursday puts it. Speaking of which, anyone not checking out the lovely Thursday's mini-comic, Heads Up Penny, should do so, and with much quickness. Her charm and wit just roll off those gun fingers right onto the page, and she's prodded quite a few belly laughs from yours truly, both in person at the con and from afar while I read her minis. She rules balls.
Also of note, APE stalwart Arsenic Lullabies, which takes holocaust humor to a whole new level,
Kyle Strahm's mini-comics, which feature, among many other things, burning babies of doom, and, of course, my favorite APE pickup, THE MAN IN THE BOX. Motherfucker this thing is cool! Sadly, I forget who made the MAN IN THE BOX, but I'll try and find out.
Some pics:
Me looking for a Glory Hole in a San Francisco pub.
Fragile Prophet writer Jeff Davidson and rabble-rousing musician BOOTH.
And finally, finally, the glorious MAN IN THE BOX!
